Obviously WW3 isn't the preferred route which is why Obama is building up the DHS because our path leads either to economic collapse or WW3. People only understand half the story when they blame it on oil and then when they see that we don't take oil they put trust back into the government but its all about ensuring the government sells oil in dollars. the problem is that for Americans to understand they need to spend a several hours studying for it to make sense which the majority of people don't care to do even if you lay it all out in front of them.

I think it is worse than that. Hitler and the NSDAP's rise to power came at a point when the situation in Germany was, basically, total monetary chaos. The US has simply seen nothing like the real "on the street" effects of something akin to Weimer hyperinflation, nor has an area of the US been occupied in order to secure non-fiat payment for US debt held by other countries. For the US to be in a similar to Germany in that period, you would need something like, say, Chinese troops occupying Silicon Valley and taking all designs, blueprints and coding developments as soon as they were completed, and entire rows of New York brownstones being up for sale for a few dollars while a bar of soap cost more than a month's earnings. That is how Hitler came to power. The US might be bad at the moment, but it aint quite that bad. So really, there ain't enough of an excuse for all this shit -- which kinda begs the question of what they would be prepared to do if it ever did.
