Silver Short Squeeze and Backwardation explained

Silver backwardation and the makings for a short squeeze Silver price is treading water lots a catalyst that bubbling here we rebuilding in Japan -- in the futures market and -- haven buying. Joining me for the trade at the nymex it -- our trading Anthony it is the whole Clinton catalysts that should be pushing silver higher but they're not

because of extreme shortage people fear that they wont get hold of the physical in a future time. so they want it now. so the price today is higher than that of a future date. for example if a seller promises to deliver u physical in 2015 at § 20 an oz wouldn't u rather take delivery now paying a little extra knowing well that there wont be any silver in 2015? that's backwardation. JP Morgan won't take it's own ETFs as collateral

Silver has better dynamics than gold from an investment perspective

In This video silver investor David Morgan interviews Jim Pavlakos of Golden State Mint. Silver has better dynamics than gold from an investment perspective

David Morgan said in a recent interview :... There are more factors at work. At least two to three decades ago, there was an article that came out with the headline, "Silver is Gold's Poodle." I laugh, because that is really a metaphor for silver. If I ever wanted to increase my newsletter subscription, I should probably change my title to www.gold-investor.com. Silver has better dynamics than gold from an investment perspective, but fewer people are willing to invest in it. It's a smaller market and therefore more volatile. But the dynamics of silver are better, because it has every attribute of classical money that gold holds—that safe haven status—and it's better recognized as money on a global basis, not just a North American basis. On top of that, it has industrial demand, and most of those applications are price-inelastic, meaning demand will be there regardless of silver's price. So, long term, silver really does have a better investment profile than gold does.I'd say that more people are waking up to that fact, and I'll say it from empirical evidence as well.

Silver Scarcer Than Gold But More Useful - Mike Maloney & David Morgan In Las Vegas

Silver Scarcer Than Gold But More Useful - Mike Maloney & David Morgan In Las Vegas (Ep 6) The world as we know it would cease to exist without silver.

I love you guys! You pint such a rosy picture for "the" metal!

With Silver looking fine above $34, of course the USA market will try to pull it down, but I do not think they will manage today...$38 here we come?

PS Hey Dan I thought you might be in the UK around this time?

PS II I should get my daughters little order of Silver Eagles right about now :0)

You speak, I listened and took action....but It would be worth to give gold _some_ credibility :) There is a lot of uses for gold in the electronics industry. Not to the same degree as silver, but it exists. Part of recycling of fine electronics is to get some of the gold back. It's also much used as a chemical catalyst, or at least experimented much as such.

So if gold suddenly disappeared, you'd certainly see signs of this in specific industries. It's not like no one would care or notice. But life would probably go on

Silver over $ 33 an ounce for the first time since 1980

Silver is back in the crosshairs of speculators, who have pushed its prices over $ 33 an ounce for the first time since March 1980 to a peak of $ 33.40 on the spot market in London. After the outstanding performance of 2010 - where silver had won more than 80%, one of the largest increases among the commodities - the metal had started the year in the name of weakness. But in February, it is on an appreciation trend .

Silver never been so high since 1980

The headlines are all for gold, but it was silver which actually made all the more striking performances.the price of silver is the highest ever seen for a little over 30 years earlier when the market was under the influence of speculative purchases of Hunt brothers.
At the end of last year it took 65 ounces of silver to buy one of gold, while yesterday 58 would be enough . It is a confirmation of what industry analysts say: going up by 48% in 2009 and over 38% in 2010 , silver shows how it is an advantage being a precious metal and a metal with significant industrial uses .
It should be noted that even in the downward trend in the past, the metal showed a speed exceeding that of gold. And it is worth noting that the industrial uses may become a disadvantage when the economy limps.
In the case of silver increases are the engines of the weakness of the dollar (the currency in which prices are expressed), the low interest rates and the increasing industrial demand, in a mix that in recent weeks has been shown to operate at full regime, but that may not last forever.
The 2010 budget for silver should see a world production of about 23 thousand tonnes, which will add 7 thousand tons of recycled material. The question is half the industry (electronics ), with significant demands for jewelry, coins and ETFs, securities traded like stocks, whose prices replicate the performance of the underlying metal.
The silver , has a feature that is often overlooked: it is usually extracted from the mines in which silver is only a sub product. It means that any slowdown in interest in the primary metal (whether it be copper or lead, gold or zinc) has a negative effect on the extraction of silver.

The same can of course be reversed. But in these situations the risk is considered negligible. Indeed, the situation underscores the interest in the mining sector

Silver price at a 30 years high

Silver Maple Leaf coin bullion
The price of an ounce of silver reached a thirty years high on the international markets today. The metal for delivery in March 'jumped to $ 32.66 an ounce at the Comex in New York The highest since 1980 ,the demand for silver also is the highest of all time, and is expected to continue to grow. Silver which is also an industrial metal is used for industrial purposes such as the production of solar panels and medical equipment. Analysts expect further price increase . There are rumors (but lacking official confirmation) that trade is concentrated in "strong hands" of the institutional players, and it would be advisable for retail investors to wait for a bearish correction.
In the past year alone the price has increased from 16.82 (closing of 31.12.2009) to 30.83 (closed 31.12.2010) an increase of 83.29% on an annual basis.

The statistics contained in the Silver Yearbook in 2009 indicate that the metal has attracted net investments of 209.7 million ounces, a number exceeded only in 1980, when it reached 222.2 million ounces, and also estimated in 1968, with 226 million. In 2010, CPM Group forecasts that it will reach 213.9 million, with a significant contribution from numismatics. In 2009, sales of silver reached a record high (35 million ounces) in January and the application of an ounce coins minted by the U.S. Mint was the highest since 1987.

Silver Sky Rockets, Masses Begin To Dump Silver

Silver Sky Rockets, Masses Begin To Dump Silver , Keep your silver as long as you can, it is going up..up...up! Eagles are very desirable. I would say there is a three dollar spread between Eagles and rounds. I always buy my silver in Eagles and 90% US coin nothing else. And never over 1oz you can keep the larger quantities, they too often sell at discounts. One hundred ounce bars can be as weak as 90%. I would rather have 100 Eagles.

GM did not get broken by the unions.. Silver the most undervalued metal in human history

Silver; Today's Best Longterm Investment

As part of a preparedness plan we should balance our investments. I posted this video, because in my research I found that the precious metals are the best investment today. Gold has gone through the roof as a 1st choice, but silver has been overlooked as a 2nd choice. With the currency crises before us the elite class are taking stock in the precious metal markets to balance their risk in other unstable markets. So taking from their lead, so should we.

It's important to note that while the movement towards precious metal is driving up prices, the demand for them, is offset by our increased industrial uses. While gold is still a good investment, silver is bond to catchup for it's industrial usefulness, which makes it a wise choice for a long term investment.
