John Embry & James Turk on The Gold Market Attack

John Embry -- Chief Investment Strategist at the Canadian firm Sprott Asset Management -- discusses the recent correction in the gold and silver price with James Turk, Director of the GoldMoney Foundation. Here two clear leaders Embry and Turk are at their most comfortable base of expertise, knowledge and experience - priceless.

1) The spot price is the price at which physical metal trades. GoldMoney buys metal at the spot price from reliable refiners and dealers, which it then sells to its customers. GoldMoney will always use the price at which physical metal trades, not any prices at which the paper market trades.

2) Given the growing importance of Asia in the market for physical metal, it is likely that the HK Merc could become an important player.

GoldSeek Radio's Chris Waltzek speaks candidly with John Embry from Sprott Asset Management, about 2012 fundamentals and the gold Market. They talk about how the price of gold will react in another market meltdown, similar to 2008, and whether there will be a sell-off. They conclude that this time the flight to safety will be more important than the rush for liquidity and that gold is uniquely placed to act as a safe haven, especially with T-bills and other traditional safe assets discredited by US debt issues.

John Embry : The 12th year of Gold bull cycle will be the best

1/25/2012 : Sprott Asset Management's John Embry interviewed by Mineweb - John Embry believes that the prospect of global "Weimar situation" is very real and bullish for gold. "If the economies are as damaged as I think they are, particularly in Europe, (I don't think they are as good in China or the US as they are trying to crack them up to be).... I think gold and silver prices could conceivably see the biggest percentage gains this year that they've had in the entire bull market" John Embry said "There's an excess debt issue in virtually every country of any import in the world and the chance of growing out of it are zero. I am a big believer in Austrian economics which says growth requires more and more debt creation. We can't support the debt we have already. We have seen that in vivid fashion in Europe," he added

John Embry : Gold headed for $3000/oz

John Embry : Well it could be, because as you go down the path to hyperinflation, it just means that money is being devalued at an ever greater rate. Gold, being real money, is priced in this devalued money. People just don't seem to grasp that it's not gold that's doing anything; it's the value of the money in which it's denominated that's driving the bus. It's going straight down and the price of gold ultimately will go straight up. Now having said all of that, you got to be careful what you wish for, because the societal impact of this could be very, very negative. I would just as soon be wrong, but my job is to analyze things and this is the way I see it. Well, I was bullish in the late 1990's and I was wrong. This is what got me involved with GATA because I started to analyze the situation more closely. When you discovered what the central banks were really doing in this space, leasing their gold and what have you, it all started to become very clear. As I mentioned in my talk yesterday at the conference, I don't think people recognize what weakened position the Western Central banks are in with respect to their gold reserves. As a result, I think, that the swing from supplying gold to the market, where the Western Central banks have been doing this great amounts for 15 years, now with the Eastern Central banks taking gold out of the market, and the Western Central banks being limited in what they can do going forward, this is an enormous change. That alone would have a significant upside impact on the price.

John Embry : silver is more under priced than gold

John Embry gives his opinion on Gold and Silver : Gold has always been acknowledged as real money while silver is called poor man's gold. In the long run, gold is the safer one to be in because of the huge industrial component to silver. However, John Embry feels that silver is more under priced than gold and in 2 to 3 years the percentage gain in silver will be better.

John Embry : why Gold and Silver should be in your portfolio

John Embry Chief Investment Strategist at Sprott Asset Management discusses the reasons why people should own Gold and Silver : ...I think that it is absolutely essential that gold and silver be in anybody's portfolio particularly anybody that has substantial wealth for the simple reason that paper assets are under attack because of the debasement of money and I mean if you want sort of historical example look at what happened in the 1970s if you had gold and silver in your portfolio I mean you offset the fact that inflationary environmental the real returns on paper assets bonds and stocks were negligible if not considerably negative and if you had enough to have a lot but if you had a say a ten percent representation in your portfolio you skated through what positive returns with positive returns of overall portfolio but if you did not you have a negative return so the situation today is infinitely worse than it was then so I think it's essential that people have it and the interesting fact is that the vast majority of people don't have it which gives you sort of a leg up if you got it , right now basically if you don't have it you better be getting it soon ...you should diversify ...the safest way to own gold is in your position ...you should have ten to twenty percent portfolio in physical gold and silver ...the US Stocks today are grotesquely over priced , the US bond market dos not even deserve a comment ...the currency debasement is a worldwide phenomenon

John Embry & James Turk on the Physical Silver Shortage

John Embry Chief Investment Strategist at Sprott Asset Management discusses the recent correction in the silver price with James Turk, Director of the GoldMoney Foundation: ....I think the rise to the recent $50 peak believe it or not was justified and it is funny when you read the main stream press everybody is talking about bubbles and how big the crash is going to be , they would not seem to understand the fundamentals I think the fundamentals of silver are impeccable , the fact that we are going through a tough crash is not surprising it's a paper driven COMEX sponsored correction and it's to be expected , I mean if you have been involved in silver market as long as we have at Sprott we're used to these things they are not fun but it is another buying opportunity ... The paper market probably drives the prices most of the time when the physical takes over is when the physical shortage takes place and what's going on right now is very clearly there is a massive short position in...

John Embry & James Turk - U.S. Dollar on Death Row

John Embry Chief Investment Strategist at Sprott Asset Management believes that the days of the dollar are numbered : I do I look at things mathematically he says , when I look at the budget deficit for example you reach the stage now where expenditures are twice as much as revenues , they are taking in less than 50 percent of what they're spending anytime you seen that in history that mean you by pass the point of no return so I find these debates of how much spending and cuts they gonna have or tax rise or sort of deals budget deficit problems kinda factious because I think they have reach the state in which they can do nothing but monetize to debt because they can't crack it - U.S. Dollar on Death Row

John Embryof Sprott Asset Management Silver Above $50 in 2011 Gold Over $2,000

I don't know how long the dollar will last for. But I rather jump out of a boat before it sinks than sit around to see how things turn out.Silver & Gold is your lifeboat. Diversify with Physical Gold and Silver - BIGGEST INVESTMENT EVER : Silver and gold do not go up. The value of the dollar goes down. Silver doesn't appreciate. It does not produce cash flows. Gold is money. It is not an investment. It is wealth preservation. You can trade an ounce of sliver for the same amount of goods as you could in 1913. The silver to oil or silver to bag of potatoes ratio should never change. Silver and gold are just money. There are arbitrage opportunities at times, but in the long run silver and gold are simply money.Silver is by far a better investment. Look at the numbers of silver over the years. It has outperformed gold and it is still a bargain even at $35.00. Imagine it going to $50.00. or $100.00 Bill gates has 30% of his assets in silver. Maybe he knew something that we did not.buying gold and having the ability to hold it in your hand is better than receiving a piece of paper stating how much you own. Because that piece of paper with that statement is no different than having the dollar bill in your wallet, paper may have a statement (IOU wise) but gold is GOLD.If you are going to buy gold you are better off buying actual gold that you can touch. Not a piece of paper or a certificate - thats just an iou in my opinion. If your going to keep an iou - you may as well hold dollars. There are gold dealers all over. look up the yellow pages
