In an exclusive interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo on Friday, President Barack Obama said that the upcoming fight over the continuation of a resolution which will fund the government does not have to be a fight at all. He said that enough Republicans in Congress agree that seeking to defund the Affordable Care Act is a bad idea, but they are afraid of angering their base or of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"Congress doesn't have a whole lot of core responsibilities," Obama said. "One core responsibility is passing a budget, which they have not done yet. The other core responsibility that they've got is to pay the bills that they've already accrued."

Obama said that, if Congress does their jobs on those issues, then they can tackle "big, structural changes" like what he is proposing to the nation's higher education system.

"How much of the lack of action in Washington do you put on yourself in terms of blame?" Cuomo asked.

"Ultimately the buck stops with me," Obama replied. "I get frustrated, and I've said before and I continue to say I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get Congress — and Republicans in Congress in particular — to think less about politics and party and think more about what's good for the country."

He said that the notion that Republicans would shut down the government over the ACA is not good for the nation. He said the GOP sees this as "their last gasp." "I've made this argument to my Republican friends privately, and, by the way, sometimes they say to me privately, 'I agree with you, but I'm worried about a primary from, you know, somebody in the tea party back in my district' or, 'I'm worried about what Rush Limbaugh is going to say about me on radio.'"

Biography

Since 1976, Marrs has taught a course on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at the University of Texas at Arlington. It became a basis for the Oliver Stone film JFK. Marrs served as a chief consultant for both the film's screenplay and production,Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy.

Beginning in 1992, Marrs spent three years researching and completing a non-fiction book on a top-secret government program called the Stargate Project involving the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing, only to have the program canceled as it was going to press in the summer of 1995. Within two months, the story of military-developed remote viewing broke nationally in the Washington Post after the CIA revealed the program.

In May 1997, Marrs' investigation of UFOs, Alien Agenda, was published by HarperCollins Publishers. Publishers Weekly described Alien Agenda as "the most entertaining and complete overview of flying saucers and their crew in years." The paperback edition was released in mid-1998. It has been translated into several foreign languages and become the top-selling UFO book in the world.

In early 2000, HarperCollins published Rule by Secrecy, which claimed to trace a hidden history connecting modern secret societies to ancient and medieval times. He also cited the term "nephilism" to describe the fallen angels who mated with Earth women to produce giants. What perhaps pioneering researchers such as Zecharia Sitchin and Erich von Daniken missed is that the ancient astronauts or Annunaki were actually the Nephilim or fallen angels, described in the Bible, he argued.

Many Native Americans have reported seeing portals opening before their eyes, and their oral histories detail a race of giants who were cannibals, Quayle stated. They also describe Bigfoot or Sasquatch as highly intelligent creatures that can travel dimensionally (according to Quayle's military sources the creatures can communicate telepathically). The Book of Enoch writes that when giants were killed, they became disembodied spirits, which Quayle suggested are the incubus and sucubus, predatory sex demons that sometimes plague humans while they sleep.

Quetzalcoatl is a Mesoamerican deity whose name comes from the Nahuatl language and means "feathered serpent". The worship of a feathered serpent deity is first documented in Teotihuacan in the first century BC or first century AD. That period lies within the Late Preclassic to Early Classic period (400 BC--600 AD) of Mesoamerican chronology, and veneration of the figure appears to have spread throughout Mesoamerica by the Late Classic (600--900 AD).

Furthermore, early Spanish sources written by clerics tend to identify the god-ruler Quetzalcoatl of these narratives with either Hernán Cortés or St. Thomas—an identification which is also a source of diversity of opinions about the nature of Quetzalcoatl.

Among the Aztecs, whose beliefs are the best-documented in the historical sources, Quetzalcoatl was related to gods of the wind, of Venus, of the dawn, of merchants and of arts, crafts and knowledge. He was also the patron god of the Aztec priesthood, of learning and knowledge. Quetzalcoatl was one of several important gods in the Aztec pantheon, along with the gods Tlaloc, Tezcatlipoca and Huitzilopochtli.

Collapse, directed by Chris Smith, is an American documentary film exploring the theories, writings and life story of controversial author Michael Ruppert. Collapse premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2009 to positive reviews.

Ruppert, a former Los Angeles police officer who describes himself as an investigative reporter and radical thinker, has authored books on the events of the September 11 attacks and of energy issues. Critics[who?] call him a conspiracy theorist and an alarmist.
Director Smith interviewed Ruppert over the course of fourteen hours in an interrogation-like setting in an abandoned warehouse basement meat locker near downtown Los Angeles. Ruppert's interview was shot over five days throughout March and April 2009. The filmmakers distilled these interviews down to this 82 minute monologue with archival footage interspersed as illustration.
The title refers to Ruppert's belief that unsustainable energy and financial policies have led to an ongoing collapse of modern industrial civilization.
The film does not overtly take a perspective on the validity of Ruppert's positions[citation needed] and critics have alternatingly described the film as supportive and as critical of Ruppert's views. Smith himself, speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere, said that "What I hoped to reveal was ... that his obsession with the collapse of industrial civilization has led to the collapse of his life. In the end, it is a character study about his obsession."[1]

Gold ignores Fed minutes in favor of China data

Everyone was clearly convinced the Fed was going to provide, with absolute clarity, what they were thinking in regard to tapering. This is despite them failing to do so every other time markets thought they might do just this.

Obviously the FOMC minutes did not provide any further clues as to when the bond buying program might be scaled back. The general sentiment of the board was that more data was required and, for some, that it might be too soon to begin tapering. Despite this many believe the minutes indicated that the Fed ‘remained on track’ to scale back purchases should conditions remain the same.

The gold price didn’t really care, before or after the release. In the run-up to the minutes it fluctuated between gains and losses and post-release it originally gained in the first few minutes but then fell very slightly. The SPDR Gold Trust gained 0.5%, despite seeing outflows.

Prior to the FOMC minutes, volumes of the Shanghai Gold Exchange climbed to 10,926kg for gold of 99.99 percent purity, their highest level since August 2nd.
