Known under various names (Tobin tax, financial transactions tax, Robin Hood tax), a tax on the sales of stocks, bonds, futures, options and other derivatives is key both to generating trillions in revenue and to reducing the burden of predatory financial speculation.

Such a tax was passed in January 2013 by 11 EU member-nations, including Germany, France and Italy. The Wall Street Trading and Speculators Tax Act, re-introduced in February 2013 by Senator Harkin (IA) and Rep. Peter Defazio (OR-4), provides a template for the US, and is quickly gaining support among economists and activists.

The turnover (transactions) in question, including stocks, bonds, options, futures and derivatives, is estimated to exceed five quadrillion (5,000 trillion) dollars per year. While working class families pay an average of 7% in sales tax for clothing, utilities and even food, hedge fund operators pay nothing. The EU tax and mainstream proposals in the US tax these transactions at anywhere from 0.005% to 0.1% (advocated by Robert Reich). This is not enough! Harkin and Defazio estimate tax receipts of $300 billion over 10 years. In this same period, the Simpson-Bowles commission intends to cut $4 trillion from the budget, mostly from Medicare and other social programs.

The UFAA demands a full 1% Wall Street Sales Tax, to generate trillions in needed revenue. We recommend a $1 million exemption to protect household-level investment, and a requirement that all transactions must be sold over public exchanges and taxed in order to be legally valid.

Assad vs Libya & Iraq Deja Vu – By Jason Liosatos

Is Assad a suicidal masochist using chemical weapons, knowing that it would be a dream for Washington and the West, giving them the green light to unleash their wrath upon him fully? Is it not much more likely that the US and Western funded Syrian rebels and Al Qaeda did it knowing that the West would blame Assad and eagerly intervene? Or did the Western governments or Israel themselves do it as an excuse to intervene? And then we have the Saudis and other ingredients to put into the pot of possibilities.

In my opinion one thing is for sure, and that is that there is no way President Assad would use chemical weapons two days after the UN chemical weapons inspectors arrived, and it is no coincidence that these weapons were used at this time, but more likely a co inciding of events for a desired outcome. The word coincidence comes from the word coincide, so it is more likely that we are witnessing a coinciding of events previously planned, unless of course Assad has a hidden agenda that would benefit him by being invaded, and almost certainly killed by the Western military monster. This whole Middle Eastern debacle with Syria, Egypt, Libya, Iraq seems very predictable if we are courageous enough to broaden our vision and see the bigger picture.

Gaddafi in his prophetic speech (video) to the Arab League warned them all that “they killed Saddam and we might be next”, and ironically Assad was in the crowd and laughed when Gaddafi said it. Let us be very cautious in our presumptions about the situation in Syria and Egypt, and be very careful what we believe when we we are being force fed information from the corporate media, and the mainstream media “yes men”, who are easily influenced by the carrot or the stick of the Governments that control them.

Mainstream media is all to often coerced and conditioned, like a performing chimp, to serve the governments agendas, and to force feed the public Foie Gras style, stuffing them daily, often preparing them to accept the future scenarios, which if not prepared for, that same public might rebel against. A former Marine Corps Colonel who was stationed in Fallujah and trained Iraqi soldiers warns that the Department of Homeland Security is working with law enforcement to build a "domestic army," because the federal government is afraid of its own citizens.

Referencing signs in the crowd which read "More Mayberry, Less Fallujah," the Colonel spoke of how he didn't even have armored vehicles when he was stationed in Fallujah.

Martino's role as a Ministry of Defense coordinator was to command, train and equip the Iraqi Army, noting that he helped do everything he could "to make it as strong as possible," but that "Homeland Security would kick their butts in a week."

Stressing that it was unlawful and unconstitutional to use US troops on American soil, the Colonel warned, "What's happening here is we're building a domestic military," adding that police are now "wearing the exact same combat gear that we had in Iraq, only it was a different color."

Martino warned that the DHS was following military tactics by, "pre-staging gear and equipment" in order to build a "domestic army" while shrinking the US military "because the government is afraid of its own citizens."

In yet another example of political suppression overtaking Missouri, a startling video shows the Missouri Highway Patrol tackling and arresting peaceful protestors for refusing to leave a public area.

Two protestors were arrested, including one wearing an Infowars Tyranny Response Team t-shirt.

No less than seven police officers and state troopers can be seen surrounding the protestors who were the only pedestrians in the immediate area.

In the video, an officer claimed that the protestors were "causing accidents" by standing on a bridge sidewalk which was barricaded several feet from the traffic lane.

"That's not true. There's been no accidents," one of the protestors responded.

"There's also a First Amendment issue here, too," another protestor added. "We don't protest [only] when the St. Charles Police tells us we can protest."

"We have a First Amendment right."

The protestors even offered to move to the side of the bridge as a compromise.

That didn't satisfy the police.

I believe that the law is a poor reflection of justice and therefor I disagree with many things that police officers enforce. However there is understandably a need for some of our laws, but some officers take it to far. They become power hungry. For example, one officer tried to ban me from an entire city. How could he even do that. lol. It was ridiculous especially because we had done nothing wrong. At that time I was working as a canvasser and was going door to door getting people to sign up for a news paper subscription. During the winter it gets dark earlier and people get a little sketched out at the door. That is not my fault and I am a nice person that never tries to push sales to hard. You must understand that I am just trying to make a living and pay rent like most other people. If knocking on doors is what puts food on the table then I'll do it. This police officer was on a power trip though. He said we were dicks and that we couldn't come back into the city. He had no authority to do that so of course we went back.

As Kurt Nimmo reported in 2009, the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) distributed a law enforcement report entitled The Modern Militia Movement which instructed police to be on the lookout for people displaying "political paraphernalia" such as Gadsden flags and Ron Paul bumper stickers.

MIAC, a federal law enforcement information sharing center more commonly known as a fusion center, described itself as a "mechanism to collect incident reports of suspicious activities" in order to "identify potential trends or patterns of terrorist or criminal operations within the state of Missouri."

In an exclusive interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo on Friday, President Barack Obama said that the upcoming fight over the continuation of a resolution which will fund the government does not have to be a fight at all. He said that enough Republicans in Congress agree that seeking to defund the Affordable Care Act is a bad idea, but they are afraid of angering their base or of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"Congress doesn't have a whole lot of core responsibilities," Obama said. "One core responsibility is passing a budget, which they have not done yet. The other core responsibility that they've got is to pay the bills that they've already accrued."

Obama said that, if Congress does their jobs on those issues, then they can tackle "big, structural changes" like what he is proposing to the nation's higher education system.

"How much of the lack of action in Washington do you put on yourself in terms of blame?" Cuomo asked.

"Ultimately the buck stops with me," Obama replied. "I get frustrated, and I've said before and I continue to say I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get Congress — and Republicans in Congress in particular — to think less about politics and party and think more about what's good for the country."

He said that the notion that Republicans would shut down the government over the ACA is not good for the nation. He said the GOP sees this as "their last gasp." "I've made this argument to my Republican friends privately, and, by the way, sometimes they say to me privately, 'I agree with you, but I'm worried about a primary from, you know, somebody in the tea party back in my district' or, 'I'm worried about what Rush Limbaugh is going to say about me on radio.'"
